Discover UBD Challenge – Terms and Conditions
- Eligibility
Team members must possess valid Brunei Identification Card (Yellow, Purple/Red, Green).
The Discover UBD Challenge is open to all individuals aged 12 and above.
Participants must be physically fit to take part in the scavenger hunt and must not have any medical conditions that would prevent them from safely participating in the event.
- Registration
All participants must register prior to the event through the official registration process.
Only one representative member is required to register on behalf of the team.
The registration fee will be determined by the individual completing the registration form.
The registration fee is non-refundable.
Registration is considered complete only upon receipt of payment and confirmation from the organisers.
10% of the profit will proceed to UBD Endowment Fund.
Team members need to e-mail the organiser at the official email address at oara.events@ubd.edu.bn if they faced the following issues:
- Payment does not get through
- Changes of information – For all changes or amendments of any kind such as T-shirt sizes, team members will need to send an e-mail of the amendments before the closing of registration.
- Any updated details and amendments (if applicable) i.e. email, phone number, address.
- Event Details
The Discover UBD Challenge is a half-day event that will take place at the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The event will commence at 6.00 AM and conclude at 12.00 PM.
Participants are required to report to the designated starting point at least 30 minutes before the event begins.
- Teams
Participants will compete in teams. Each team must consist of 4 members.
Teams may be pre-formed by the participants.
All team members must remain together throughout the duration of the challenge.
- Conduct and Safety
Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner throughout the event.
Participants must adhere to all rules and guidelines provided by the organisers.
The Universiti of Brunei Darussalam is a smoke-free and alcohol-free campus; participants must comply with all campus policies.
Participants are responsible for their own safety during the event and must exercise caution at all times.
Any reckless or dangerous behaviour may result in disqualification from the event.
- Scavenger Hunt Rules
The challenge will involve completing a series of tasks and finding specific locations within the UBD campus.
All tasks must be completed in the order specified by the organisers.
Participants are not allowed to use motorised transportation during the event. Only walking or running is permitted.
Participants are permitted to use smartphones and GPS devices for navigation and searching for answers online.
Registered team members are encouraged to wear the Discover UBD Challenge T-shirt and appropriate sports attire during the event (no short and revealing pants are allowed for women participants).
- Logistics
UBD will offer Wi-Fi connectivity; however, please note that signal strength may vary in certain areas. In such instances, participants are encouraged to utilize their personal mobile data.
Each team will receive a single parking pass, and participants are encouraged to carpool to support sustainability efforts in line with the SDGs. Parking spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Disqualification
The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant or team found to be cheating, breaking the rules, or engaging in any unsportsmanlike conduct.
Disqualified participants will not be eligible for any prizes and may be asked to leave the event.
- Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the top-performing teams based on the time of completion and accuracy of tasks completed.
In the event of a tie, the organisers will determine the winner based on additional criteria, which will be announced at the event.
- Liability
Participants acknowledge that they are participating in the event at their own risk.
The organisers, including the Universiti of Brunei Darussalam and all event sponsors, are not liable for any injuries, losses, or damages that may occur during the event.
Participants agree to waive any claims against the organisers arising from participation in the Discover UBD Challenge.
- Photography and Media
By participating in the event, participants consent to being photographed or filmed by the organisers.
The organisers reserve the right to use any photos or videos taken during the event for promotional purposes without compensation to the participants throughout the event including, but not limited to the Instagram Tag, #discoverubdchallenge2024 and others.
- Cancellation or Postponement
The organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather or other emergencies.
In the event of cancellation, participants will be informed promptly, and any applicable registration fees may be transferred to a rescheduled date.
- Amendments
The organisers reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any changes prior to the event.
- Acceptance of Terms
By registering for the Discover UBD Challenge, participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
